National Broadband Plan will deliver faster broadband to West Cork as part of €175 million investment by State – Harrington
Fine Gael TD for Cork South West, Noel Harrington, has welcomed the launch by the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte, of ‘Delivering a Connected Society – A National Broadband Plan for Ireland’, which will see every home and business in the State have access to high speed broadband at speeds much faster than what are generally available today.
“I am delighted with today’s announcement as West Cork will finally have access to high speed broadband, particularly in rural areas. Today’s announcement means that individuals and businesses will have access to a minimum 30 megabytes per second (Mbps), with more than half the population receiving 70Mpbs – 100Mpbs by 2015. I have raised this issue a number of times during Joint Oireachtas Committee meetings of which I am a member and also in the Dail.
