Harrington welcomes new school for 1,000 Skibbereen students

Fine Gael Cork South Central Deputy, Noel Harrington, has welcomed the announcement that a new school is to be built in Skibbereen, which will accommodate approximately 1,000 second level students in the area.

The announcement is part of a €2.25 billion investment stimulus package which was announced today (Tuesday) by Government, the aim of which is to identify the projects that could realistically be delivered, that would provide a boost to the economy and create much needed jobs.

“As part of this multi-billion euro stimulus package, Skibbereen is in line to get a new secondary school which will replace Mercy Heights, De la Salle and Rossa College, bring them all together under one roof. The idea of amalgamating these schools has been pushed around for years and the logical thing to do is to bring them together once and for all. Skibbereen, and the students involved, will most certainly benefit from the move.
