Cork Co. Council’s Commitment of continued support to MV Julia welcomed.

Cork South West, T.D, Noel Harrington today (Monday) hugely welcomed the announcement by Cork County Council to further commit financial support to West Cork Tourism Co-Operative Ltd. to ensure that the Fastnet Line, MV Julia will again commence service.  The allocation of €200K for the Cork-Swansea service will be of tremendous benefit to the Tourism Industry for both Cork and Kerry which is worth approx. €40 million to the area.  This €200K commitment by Cork Co. Council added to the €700k approx. that has has already been raised by local businesses, individual donors, investors, passengers and shareholders, will assist greatly in getting the MV Julia to set sail for the late Spring and Summer Season.

Doodle for Google – Bantry Student onto Shortlist

Doodle for Google

A third-year west Cork student has been shortlisted for the major prizes in the much-coveted Doodle 4 Google competition.

Bantry girl Carolyn O’Sullivan has made the final 75 from an entry list of thousands.

The 15-year-old from Coláiste Phobail Bheanntraí also entered the competition last year and made it to the semi-final stage of the last 300.

This time around, she has progressed to the final hurdle and voting is now open to the public on the Doodle 4 Google website.
